The Little Prince

We've all had teachers that were able to explain difficult concepts in a way that we could understand. These may have been educators in traditional classrooms or educators in other mediums, such as David Suzuki's The Nature of Things. Regardless of where you connected with your educator, they had the ability to communicate concepts to you so that you could not only grasp them but claim them as your own—to build on and to share with others. Without the ability to communicate, ideas stagnate and may even be lost. And if they are lost, do they have value?

Ideas have "intrinsic" value but their value can also be increased if the idea is shared. By communicating effectively we are able to transfer internal ideas to others. Our ideas become external to ourselves and internal to someone else where they are further developed according to other experiences and knowledge. Through effective communication ideas become "extrinsic".
