There are always a few sites which, for whatever reason, could not be built using FLOSS software. Since 1999, Xtrinsic has worked on developing custom content management systems for a range of clients. Highlights include:
- CareerMATTERS, TVOntario
- My role in this project was to develop a site and content management system (CMS) for information about all Ontario High School courses, post-secondary institutions recognized by the Government of Ontario and over 300 job descriptions (based on the Canadian federal NOC descriptions) including over 60 videos. There have been over six copy writers and editors working in the content management system. A simple tagging system helped manage the work flow from authors to editors. An expert guidance counselor also used the CMS to link high school courses and job descriptions. The site continues to grow. Employment contract
- enCore
- For this project I wrote a script which allows students to submit assignments to enCore (an on-line classroom environment). This utility was first used at the University of Toronto and has since been used in classroom environments around the world.
- Fulfilling the Promise Database, Maytree Foundation
- This site was designed to be a "collaborative bibliography" which features information for support staff and researchers interested in foreign-trained professionals. The resources can be searched or browsed by categories. Visitors to the site can suggest new resources. An administrative web-based tool allows Maytree Foundation staff to easily accept or reject (and edit) proposed resources. Technologies used: custom application in PHP and MySQL. Resource types are based on BibTeX, an XML bibliography Document Type Definition.
- Language Advisory Networking Group (LANG), University of Toronto
- The French Department at the University of Toronto wanted to convert their paper-based French placement test to an on-line system. I developed the back-end database and the marking interface. This project was presented at EuroCall 2003.
